Here’s the deal: when it comes to making greeting cards, I believe that cards
should move beyond the simple, utilitarian job of greeting, and transcend into artful correspondence.
We human beings have a long, worldwide tradition of exchanging greeting cards, partly because of our need to connect, and
partly because it’s an easy way of letting someone know, quite frankly, that we care. At their best, good cards (whether
they are traditional or modern style) comfort, celebrate, give thanks, or simply make someone laugh. In this hectic, high-tech,
email-based world, I still value and believe in the simple act of putting pen to paper to celebrate the intensely personal
act of artful correspondence.
